The Cost of a Missed Call for a Small Business — Why It Hurts More Than You Think

A missed call doesn't show up on any financial report. There's no line item in the budget for "lost calls." That's exactly why it's one of the most underestimated costs in small businesses — even though working it out is simpler than it sounds.

A three-step way to estimate it

Step one: count how many calls go unanswered each month — track it for a week (or check your carrier's billing if you have it) and multiply by four. Step two: estimate what share of those are potential customers rather than wrong numbers or telemarketing. Step three: multiply by the average value of a deal in your business.

An example calculation

20 missed calls a month × 50% are potential customers × an average deal worth PLN 300:

~PLN 3,000 in lost value per month

This is obviously an illustrative example — plug in your own numbers to see a real result for your business. Even with much more modest assumptions, the result usually comes out well above the cost of a Standard licence (PLN 99/month).

Why this cost stays invisible

A customer who couldn't reach you usually just calls a competitor instead. It leaves no trace — no complaint, no email asking why nobody answered. The business simply never learns that a sale could have happened at all.

There's no invoice for a missed call — but there's a real cost, just one nobody ever writes down.

When the loss is biggest

The biggest losses happen outside standard hours (evenings, weekends) and during peak times when the line is busy with another customer. Those are exactly the two scenarios an AI Assistant handles identically to a call in the middle of the day — with no limit on simultaneous calls tied to how many people happen to be near a phone.

How to check without guessing

The most reliable way is simply to deploy the assistant and compare how many calls actually got handled before and after — the panel shows call statistics, so the difference is visible in black and white, not just in theory.

If you suspect you're losing more calls than you think, you're probably right — most businesses that actually counted were surprised by the result.
