Landline or Mobile? Choosing a Number for Your AI Assistant

One of the first decisions when setting up an AI Assistant is choosing the phone number it will answer calls on. In the panel you set a preference (number type and, for a landline, the area code), and the number is activated after verification — usually within one business day. Here's a short guide to choosing well.

Landline number — available on both plans

The Standard plan includes a landline number from a chosen area code (e.g. 22 for Warsaw, 12 for Kraków, 61 for Poznań). That's a natural choice for local businesses — callers tend to trust a number from "their own" area code and associate it with a physical presence in that city or region.

Mobile number — Premium only

The Premium plan also lets you choose a mobile number instead of a landline. That's a sensible option for businesses that:

What actually differs from the caller's perspective

For the Assistant's functionality itself (answering calls, having the conversation, booking meetings) there's no difference at all — both options work identically. The difference is purely in how the caller perceives it: a landline with a local area code signals "a local, physical business", while a mobile number is often read as a more "personal", direct contact.

A quick decision checklist

  1. Are your customers mostly local, from one city or region? → a landline from that area code.
  2. Do you operate in multiple locations or serve the whole country? → a mobile number (Premium) or a landline from your headquarters — both are reasonable.
  3. Do you already have a number you use elsewhere (business cards, Google Maps, social media)? Consider forwarding the old number to your new AI Assistant number, so you don't lose recognisability.

Worth remembering

Landline from a chosen area code: included in both the Standard (99 PLN/month) and Premium plans.

Mobile number: Premium only (199 PLN/month)

Choosing a number type doesn't add any extra cost on top of the plan price.

What happens after you choose

You save your preference in the assistant editor — the panel immediately shows "Pending: [type], [area code]" until the number is actually assigned. Activating the number with the carrier is the one step that still requires manual verification, but it usually happens within one business day of setting your preference. If you change your mind later, you can update the type/area preference and request a new number — the old one can still be forwarded, so nothing is lost.

There's no wrong choice — both options genuinely work for any industry. It's more a question of how you want your business to sound to someone seeing the number for the first time.
