The OrionDial Mobile App — How Staff Answer Transferred Calls

The AI Assistant handles first contact well, but some calls should still reach a real person. That's what the OrionDial mobile app is for — a lightweight app installed on a staff member's phone that answers calls transferred by the assistant, with no external switchboard involved.

How it works, in short

The app is installed via a single, one-time link generated in the client panel — no separate account to set up, no password to remember. Once installed, the phone registers as a device ready to take calls, and its status (online/offline) is visible live in the panel. When the assistant decides to transfer a call, it rings that device directly — just like a normal inbound call, except this "internal call" never generates a per-minute carrier charge, because it never leaves the system's own infrastructure.

One device, several assistants

A single staff phone can be assigned to several assistants at once — useful when one person handles multiple lines, or several smaller businesses. You can also precisely limit which departments a given phone has access to: one phone for billing only, another for service only, regardless of how many assistants the business runs or how many departments are defined.

Zero call cost

Transferring a call from the assistant to a staff phone happens inside the system, with no number dialled through an external carrier.

What else the app shows

Beyond just answering calls, the app shows call history for assigned assistants, upcoming calendar bookings, and — importantly — missed transfers and alert situations. If the assistant recognises a call that needs immediate attention (because the caller raised something the business itself flagged as urgent), a clear notification appears in the app right away, visible even before anyone picks up the next call.

Who this makes sense for

The app is especially useful for businesses where staff aren't tied to one desk — field technicians, small business owners running everything from their phone, teams spread across several locations. Instead of waiting by a landline, all you need is your smartphone on hand.

This closes the loop on automation: the assistant answers every call instantly, and the ones that genuinely need a human get routed straight to the right person, wherever they happen to be.
